Travis resigns at Springfield

Darryl Travis has resigned as Springfield’s boys basketball coach after two seasons at the Robertson County school.

Travis, who had previously retired as a teacher in Kentucky, said he was resigning for “personal reasons.” He said currently plans on remaining as a teacher at Springfield High School.

Travis went 41-20 in two season at Springfield.

The Yellow Jackets went 23-7 this past season and won the District 10-AAA regular season title They finished runner-up in the District 10-AAA tournament and lost 47-43 to Mt. Juliet in the Region 5-AAA quarterfinals.

The Yellow Jackets won 22 of 26 games at one point in the season and were ranked 10th in the Associated Press’ Class AAA statewide poll for the first time in several years.
